Empress Elisabeth travelled to England four times and Ireland twice for hunting. The routes form a Sisistrasse – a Sisi route for Britain and Ireland. Sisi also had two seaside holidays at Ventnor and Cromer and also cruised along the south coast.
Crown Prince Rudolf
Crown Prince Rudolf’s ‘Grand Tour’ took him on a route up to Scotland, across to Northern Ireland and south to Dublin. Rudolf’s route then went to Chester, Bradford, Sheffield, Birmingham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and Leamington Spa, ending in a month’s social whirl in London. Rudolf returned in 1887 for Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
